Your data rights
Last updated October 30, 2026
Quebec's private-sector privacy law and Canada's PIPEDA give you rights over your personal information. Here is how to use them with us.
What you can ask for
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- give you the information you gave us in a structured, commonly used format;
- delete your account and personal information;
- stop using your information for a purpose you had agreed to, such as marketing;
- stop showing your public profile or remove links to it (de-indexing).
How to ask
Signed in? Go to Settings, then Download your data, and choose JSON or CSV. Otherwise, or for corrections and for records your employer controls, email our Privacy Officer (the founder) at customerSupport@igotyoubruhh.ca from the email address on your account and say what you want. To protect you, we only act on requests we can match to the account. It's free. We reply within 30 days; if we need longer or can't do something, we tell you why.
You can edit your profile, hide it from the marketplace and ask to delete your account yourself in Settings (it then follows the 30-day wait described under What deletion means). You can also download a copy of your data yourself in Settings, as one JSON file or a zip of CSV files. To keep the service safe, the download is limited to one every 10 minutes and five a day. A worker's download includes employer-held records only as far as the app already shows them to you.
What deletion means
When you ask to delete your account in Settings, you are signed out and your profile is hidden from the marketplace straight away. Nothing is removed yet: for 30 days your request waits, and signing in again cancels it (your marketplace listing then stays off until you switch it back on). After the 30 days, at our next daily run, we replace your name, email, username, photo and profile details with anonymous placeholders and delete your sign-in. This cannot be undone. Your account is anonymized rather than erased, because businesses you worked with keep their records: shifts, hours, pay and task records stay with them, linked to an anonymous account instead of your name. Businesses you own are handed to another member or closed; a closed business's owner has 90 days to download its data from Settings before we delete it. We keep a record of what you agreed to (Terms, privacy policy, marketing) for 3 years after you withdraw that consent or your account is anonymized, and invoices and tax records for 6 years because the law requires it. If you also choose to have your Stripe account deleted, we cancel your plan and delete your billing record and payments account where Stripe allows it; if you choose not to, your plan keeps billing until you cancel it on the Billing page. A few records sit outside the download and the automatic cleanup (for example, sign-in logs held by our authentication provider, which include your email and IP address). Ask us and we will tell you what we hold and act on it within 30 days.
If you work for a business on IGotYouBruhh
Your shifts, hours, pay and task records belong to your employer, who decides how long to keep them; we store them on its behalf. For those, ask your employer first. If you write to us, we'll forward your request to them.
If you're not satisfied
Tell us first and we'll try to fix it. You can also complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
